A well known US nuclear scientist disappeared last
week just two hours before he was indicted for selling nuclear secrets
to the Afghan government. FBI has put him as number one on the top ten
list, and he has been charged with treason by the US government. He was
missing for two days before he surfaced in a small South America city by
the name of Paramaribo briefly, only to disappear again. Paramaribo is
located in the country of Suriname.
Land: Suriname consists of a swampy coastal plain, a central plateau,
and densely forested mountains. The climate is tropical.
Population: The main ethnic groups are Asian Indians (Hindus) and Creoles
of mixed African and Native American descent. The official language is
Dutch; most people also speak Sranang Tongo (Taki-Taki), a local language.
The main religions are Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism.
Government: Following a coup in 1980, the constitution was suspended,
parliament was dissolved, and a council dominated by the military ruled
by decree. A new constitution, adopted in 1987, established a 51-member
National Assembly with the power to select the president for a 5-year term.
CIA has provided intelligence stating that in fact a small group of
five generals are the ruling body of the country. This group of generals
has taken possession of the scientist and are holding him for sale to the
Afghan government. The Afghan government has hired -=DA=-, a crack group
of mercenaries, to handle the sale and the retrieval of the scientist. |
