Mission SEEK AND CAPTURE TERRORISTS, DEAD OR ALIVE
(Note: Suggest Seek and Destroy as we cannot capture)
Insertion/Extraction Black Widow Squadron. Airborne insertion. Helicopter extraction when mission has been accomplished.
Background NATO has received troubling official Intel reports from multinational intelligence services operating in Bosnia. The intel states that an outlaw group of deserters; former allied troops, are terrorizing a small villages and the region around and near Srebrenica. Now that the Serb war is over and all major war criminals have been sent to the International Tribunal of War for disposition and trial, it is time to terminate the activities of these criminals. Crimes committed by this rogue military unit are alleged to include: murder, rape, theft, blackmail, harassment of civilians and other despicable activities. It is believed that the groups strategic goal is to build the infrastructure that will provide a safe haven for global organized crime elements to operate worldwide, safely. They believe that if they are able to achieve their goal they will all become billionaires in a very short time for providing such a service to such rich multinational crime syndicates. NATO confirms that these terrorists were originally attached to Dutchbat, the Dutch force sent to Bosnia who's mission was to restore peace in the region. They have turned their backs on society and have taken to calling their organization [DDS], the Dutch Demolition Squad. In order to keep this tragic affair away from the public eye, and maintain a positive public image of NATO, extreme secrecy is required. A small SpecOps task force must be sent to the region to deliver a death blow to this Criminal/Military operation. After heavy negotiating at NATO HQ, it has been decided to send the "Firewalkers" (=1FS=), the best trained and experienced force to deal with this situation.
Objective Quickly engage and destroy the enemy force. Restore the peace in the region. Handle the action in secrecy, avoid all contact with the press. This operation must be a "Non-Event" in the worlds eye.
Intelligence Reports OPPFOR is a highly trained and experienced group of soldiers with a deep knowledge of the weapons and tactics they learned while a part of the Dutch Army before their desertion. Expect heavy resistance. All terrorists have combat experience and know the region well.

After Action Report Mission failure. Dutch Demolition Squad victorious but seriously weakened.

The Mission was immediately compromised by DDS superior knowledge of the local terrain. They used their command of the geography to their full advantage.

The first fire fight:
=1FS= was ambushed in the unfamiliar terrain. The fight was intense and close
but we had to withdraw at the last moments of the engagement. The fire fight would have been a =1FS= victory  had time not run out. Advantage DDS. =1FS= Alpha Team withdrew to regroup and rally for the next encounter.

The second action:
Alpha Team regained composure but was unable to deal effectively with the OPPFOR's superior knowledge of their terrain. Additionally, DDS, now realizing that they could not win a "Slug Fest" with =1FS=, made a critical strategy adjustment and began to employ a "sniper heavy" tactic and strategy. The DDS strategy worked well. Forced to withdraw once again. Out maneuvered by the opposition, and unable to mount a counter sniper attack, Alpha Team engaged in a retrograde maneuver in order to inflict as many casualties as possible on the enemy. Alpha team elected to withdraw at this point.

Note: In spite of the loss, DDS lost many resources defending against the brutal =1FS= assault. The strategic result is that DDS cannot now execute their European plan in the immediate future. They must delay. Europe will be safe... temporarily. As for the =1FS= Alpha Team? Another Day will come!
